The KTM EXC is one of the off-road motorcycles produced by Austrian motorcycle company KTM for the 2005 model year. It's a more advanced version of the SX, another off-road motorcycle from KTM.
KTM launched its first trademark orange bike in 1996. The 300 was equipped with KTM's PDS link-less rear suspension, which has 320 mm of rear wheel travel and is no longer available. From 1998 to 2000, the bike was rebuilt with a larger bore and stroked out 380 cc engine (a street legal title was available in certain states). In 1999, the 300 received a hydraulic clutch, and the 2000 motor got a redesigned cylinder.
In 2004, another frame change took place. There were significant engine modifications, including a bore and stroke enlargement and the carburetor size was reduced from 38 to 36 mm, resulting in a 8-pound (3.6-kilogram) weight reduction and eliminating the need for jetting adjustments.
The first electric start two-stroke enduro bike produced by a major manufacturer is the 2008 KTM 300 EXC. All versions feature PDS rear suspension.
For 2010, Husaberg the other KTM owned bike company, offered the TE300, an XC-W with minor modifications to the bodywork and suspension settings.
